The Neosho County wrestling team is preparing for their first major fundraiser of the year this Saturday (Oct. 12). The team will be taking part in the first annual car push. to help raise funds for the upcoming wrestling season.

The event, similar to a hit-a-thon or a lift-a-thon, will see the team divided into three teams. Each team of three will be given two opportunities to push a car around the parking lot of Neosho County Community College 5 times. The team with the fastest five lap time will win a steak dinner while they two losing teams will have to settle for hot dogs.

"We are looking to make this our signature fund raising event each year," said head coach Wayne Petterson. "These guys work hard and are competitors so we expect to have some fun with this."

Each wrestler is charged with securing 25 sponsors at a recommended $2 per lap. Fans can also pledge a lump sum to help the wrestling program. Fans are welcome to come out Saturday morning at 9:30 to the parking lot outside the student union at 9:30am.
